The Tempest

(Image Courtesy: here)

Trapped amidst the tempest
She could see no outlet;
Her limbs were too numb to run
Her throat was too parched to yell.

Trapped amidst the tumultous waves
She felt like a ship in danger;
Unable to maintain balance
Struggling to stand tall.

To surrender or to sustain?
She asked her soul again and again;
Till a blanket of resilience sheathed her
And her bones got back their lost vigor.

To surrender or to sustain?
She was now ready to battle the tempest;
Till it gets defeated in drowning her
And makes space for the sun to peep in.

  3. I am sorry she had to sacrifice herself for the victory--tho I suspect it may come to that down the road aways. I hope that I would have the strength! Powerful images.

  5. i like all the questions and the answered determination of your female persona, but the image is so demure, it doesn't do much justice to the fire of the poem

    much love...

  10. A very motivational poem. I like 'fight until you die' attitude. But, surrender is the only way to sustain in eternity. I believe in: 'You cannot be defeated until you surrender and when you surrender on your own will, no can defeat you.'

      I too believe that we must surrender to the Almighty whenever we are in difficulty but definitely we should not surrender to our fears or doubts.
