Hope : Haiku (Letters from the Soul #8)

Evergreen flower
It survives in all seasons
My friend and guide, hope.

Hope, my golden sun
I, a sunflower, facing
Him with unbound faith.

In the starry nights,
I lay naked with my wounds
Hope cleanses my soul.

Glass Ceiling: A Carpe Diem poem (Letters from the soul #7)

Break free from the golden cage
Write poetry with the ink of your rage
The hefty chains of yesterday
Are the ropes to climb higher today;
Seize the day
Today is your time to say
Break the glass ceiling
That is how there will be healing.

Time is running out
Discard the prejudices and doubt
You're not just a pretty picture
To embellish that diamond frame;
Seize the day
Don't let oppression be the way
Break the glass ceiling
Speak up without fearing!

Call the artists and the rebels
Sing the anthem of unity
The word 'feminism' is not dirty
It's unfiltered, bold and about liberty.
Seize the day
Today is your time to slay
Break the glass ceiling
Equality is all that we're seeking.

Note: This is a Carpe diem poem. Carpe diem poems are poems about making the most out of life. The phrase 'Carpe diem' came from the Latin poem by Horace and is loosely translated as seize the day/pluck the day. The tone of the poem is inspirational. It can be written in any style. A carpe diem poem is not about rhyme and meter, but about the content.

Fall in Love : Free Verse (Letters from the Soul #6)

Fall in love
With your loyal 3am companion
Who knows all your secrets
Patiently wipes your tears,
And never gives up on you
Fall in love
Darling! I'm talking about you.

Fall in love
With your quirks that make you laugh
Your emotions that add to your beauty
Every scar that whispers your story
Fall in love
Today! Bask a little in your glory.

Fall in love
With how you stitch your cracks
Flaunt your smile amid the tempest dark
Pick yourself up from the murky pit
Fall in love
Now! Celebrate your indomitable spirit.

Fall in love
With how deep you love and care
Accept every rose with its thorns
The way you trace the silver lining
Fall in love
Again!  You're meant to keep shining.

Fall in love
With your lifelong companion
Who'll be there with you in sun and rain
Grow wiser each day to ease your pain
Who'll be forever true to you
Fall in love
Darling! I'm talking about you.

Eclipse: An Etheree (Letters from the Soul #5)

Light
And Dark
Birth and death
Life, a see-saw
Dance of universe;
A beautiful eclipse
Is a message from heaven
Nothing we see is permanent
The earth, in perennial motion
We flow with the duality of life.

Deja Vu (Letters from the Soul #4)

Drunk in a utopian stupor
Euphoric joy, looking at the sunset
Just like a dream that refuses to fade;
As we talk about theories of reincarnation,
Vibes of uncanny familiarity dawn in
Us, the place and the conversation!

Lost dreams
Grim new moon night
Dawn of new beginnings;
Light enters the heart only through
The crack.

Blessed forever: A Ballad (Letters from the Soul #2)

She crossed the plains and the verdant meadow
Whispered a prayer under the shade of a tree
Her gait, now tired and slow
Her hands heavy with baggage three.

Uneven breathing; no help at sight
The sweltering afternoon turns deaf ear to her misery
Her hope shriveled with weariness and thirst
From the curse of her life, she wanted to be free.

She struggled to walk into the yonder
Till she fell unconscious again;
She looked at the sky with wonder
When her senses got revived in the rain.

The petrichor was the balm to her ache
She picked her baggage and began walking
When someone called her from the back
She saw a lad in her direction, running.

"Miss, may I be of some help?", he asked
She nodded as he took two bags from her hand
Amid drizzles and the long journey, they talked
About everything in each other's world.

In a few hours, they reached the destination
She bid goodbye to the guiding spirit
With him and the Divine, she felt a vivid connection
"I am blessed forever", she finally believed.

Alone : All one with the universe (Letters from the Soul #1)

I wake up at the dead of the night, disturbed by a nightmare. My suppressed tears don’t make a noise but feed on my heart making it lose its music, one beat at a time. My eyes fall on the curtain of my window, pendulating by the summer zephyr. The full moon tries to sneak a look into my room, curious if some stars are burning in the dark. Lured by an unknown call, I walk to my terrace. The zephyr caresses my bare skin, cooling the blisters of my anguish. I inhale the aroma of mangoes, carried by the breeze from the nearby tree. The moon and I are now standing eye to eye with no mystery in between. We gaze at each other for a long time, communicating in an arcane language. The chirping of crickets breaks the magical exaltation. I see two fireflies, illuminating my heart with hope.

Nature’s lullaby
All one with the universe
Enveloped in peace.

A to Z 2018 Theme Reveal: Letters from the Soul

Despite blogging regularly from 2014, this is the first time I am going to take the famous A to Z challenge. And I am super excited about it!

For people who don't know what it is about, it is a blogging challenge where participants have to write 26 posts on the month of April, thematically from A to Z. I enjoyed doing NaNoWriMo and so I am sure, I will enjoy doing A to Z this April.

After thinking a lot about the theme, I decided to dedicate the A to Z challenge to my eternal love: poetry. The name of my theme is
Letters from the Soul. I will be writing 26 poems on soul-searching, soul companions, soul healing and so on. I plan to try different forms of poetry for this challenge to keep it interesting for my readers and myself.

Last year, during the month of April, I lost my grandmother which left deep scars in my soul as she raised up after my mother passed away when I was twelve. I was extremely close to her. Nothing is perhaps more painful in life than dealing with the loss of a loved one, especially a family member. It leaves a void so deep that nothing can fill it.

But when we look within and form a deep relationship with our inner self...our soul, it guides us to look at life from a fresh new perspective. It heals us, enlightens us and helps us make some beautiful connections in this lifetime. After all, the power is always within us. We just need to tap within and reconnect with our soul...our authentic self. We are our own medicine.

The 26 poems that I will be penning down will be personal, richly drawn from the experiences of me and my close ones. I am thrilled to embark on this journey from 1st April.

This is just a teaser of what's coming up. Looking forward to a poetic, emotional and exciting roller coaster ride!

Hope to see you all on my blog this April. Wishing the very best to all the bloggers who will be participating in A to Z 2018.
