Every time I fall down

Every time I fall down,
Every time I make a mistake,
Take a slightly wrong path
And my heart sobs secretly,
My father's calm countenance
Placates my weary soul.

I look at him
Tired, lost, tuckered out
He caresses my head
And narrates a story
About a girl
Who stood up with renewed equanimity
Every time she was hit down;
Who always learned from
Every misstep and experience,
Gaining medals of wisdom
In the casserole of her scars.
She is his favorite hero
A champion he boasts of.

My tears disappear
And I smile
As I recognize the girl and her stories;
The wind beneath my wings
The valor in my heart
My father is my soul-guide.

  16. 100% rightly said Purba.. That's how a daughter looks up to her dad and that how he instills the right confidence in her.. This is my constant experience as a father of 2 daughters who always refer to me for concurrence and advice when anything concrete is being worked out on their behalf.. A nice post!
