Numberless costumes yet the soul finds its mate! (Magic and Alchemy)

As we look into
each other's eyes,
I get transported to
numberless places
where I have looked at you
with the same intensity
and you have captivated me
with your overflowing love.
Somewhere in space and time,
we have loved each other
in numberless costumes
I have danced to your music
I have captured you on my canvas
You have given words to my
incoherent thoughts
You have taught me pottery
We have created sculptures.

As we look into
each other's eyes,
I learn the secret to this familiarity.
Numberless roles we have played
in this stage of life;
We have put on various costumes
I have taken the male costume at times
and at other times, the female costume
Yet the soul manages to find its companion
We find our way back to each other
to love and be loved in numberless ways
despite the changing of the costumes.

P.S. This poem is inspired by a poem of Rabindranath Tagore in 'Gitanjali'

A Time You Felt Happy (Magic and Alchemy)

Do you

remember a time

you felt truly happy?

Not for a flickering few minutes,

But for what felt like eternity;

Dancing in the air kind of happy

Spreading love like confetti kind of happy

Feeling that you belong to the entire universe kind of happy?

Close your eyes

Take a deep breath

Feel at home with hope and love

Radiating through every cell of your body.

Walk into that room of your mind

that carries the fragrance of the happy time;

Look for its source in every nook and corner

till you tire out and fail;

Now see yourself in a new light

Yes, You - the Creator

of Absolute Happiness and Bliss,

of every great thing that has happened in your life.

Between Yesterday and Tomorrow

Between the tempest of yesterday
And the amber sun of tomorrow,
I marvel at the rainbow
In my azure sky today.

Between the catastrophic past
And the glorious future
Is the wisdom of the present-
The truest of all wealth in the world.
I have earned my sagacity
Walking in the labyrinth of heartache.

Between the tears of yesterday
And the laughter of tomorrow
Is the enlightenment of today;
Success and Failure are like Day and Night
One is followed by the other
Two feet stepping forward on the path of life.

Between the bruises of yesterday
And the radiance of tomorrow
Is the strength blossoming in me today;
Each scar has left behind
A note of wisdom
With which I gather my broken pieces
And construct a new monument
That cannot be shaken by an earthquake.
I am the architecture of my dreams
I am the creator of my future.

Let It Fall Away!

Let it fall away so that better things can arrive in your life. The best thing about a brand new year is the hope that gets planted in everyone's heart. The hope to start afresh and being successful in every aspect of life.

Charles Lamb had rightly said, "New Year's Day is every man's birthday."

My resolution for the new year is to do one thing every day that makes me happy.

"Happiness is a thing to be practiced, like the violin" ~ Sir John Lubbock

Apart from that, I have a couple of goals that I want to accomplish this year. I hope all of you drop the baggage of failures and heartbreaks that you faced last year. Make every day of this year count. Write a wonderful story in the new 365 page-book that you would feel proud of.

Wishing all of you a very Happy New Year.

What is your New Year Resolution? How do you want your 2019 to look like? I would love to know in the comment section.

Musings of a Gemini Lass (Sunshine and Wildflowers)

A perennial dreamer I am,
My life is a panorama of myriad hues.

Dancing and fluttering like a butterfly
I leave a tint of cheer wherever I go.

The scars of my metamorphosis
Are camouflaged behind my twinkling eyes,

Autumn and spring coexist in me
I am both vulnerable and resolute;

Inside the social and colorful carapace
You can find a sensitive and poignant soul.

Creativity is my loyal refuge
Where I balance my wavering thoughts,

Arcane twilight or an esoteric paradox?
You wonder every time we meet

Darling! Don't feel uneasy by my duality
See the portrait of life in me

Duality is the beauty of life
Where success and failure are intertwined.

My infectious zest for life
Will make you admire thorns in roses;

The sanguine dust that I will sprinkle
Will let you find beauty amid chaos.

Just an earnest pleading:
Never try to cage me in your golden frame;

I will always be your friend and lover
Let's fly together, holding each other forever.

I always get fascinated with sun signs and their traits. As my zodiac is Gemini, I enjoyed a lot penning down this poem which talks about the common traits of a Gemini girl.

What is your sun sign? Which trait do you like the most in your zodiac? Do let me know in the comment box.

My friend -the moon (Sunshine and Wildflowers)

my friend- the moon

A part of me is broken beyond repair
I don't recognize this brokenness
Gazing at me with a grimace
From the other side of the mirror.

I wait for my friend-the moon
Camouflaged by the dark clouds;
I long to unmask my heart today
And sing my sorrow-song to her.

Living amid the darkness
With a new face each night,
Only the moon can hear me
And be the blotting paper to my pain.

The moon appeared with a balm for my scars
She said, "Dear girl, life is a perennial journey
From fullness to brokenness to emptiness;
In order to start anew
Embrace thy emptiness
Without getting stuck in
The desert of brokenness
And one beautiful day,
You will be shining like the full moon
Opulent, graceful, and resilient."

This poem is about a girl's friendship with the moon. I believe if we can befriend nature, we can discover a mine of treasure and wisdom within us. At times of despair, gazing at a sunset or moon can provide more solace than talking to someone.
Although Sunshine and Wildflowers is a blog series of short stories on women, I thought of also using poetry as a tool for story-telling.

Zen Meditation: Trinet (Letters from the Soul #26)

Eyes closed
Agonized heart
Head feels heavy; ache in body
I sit in the lotus position
Pay attention,
Breathe in
Breathe out.

Breathe in
Breathe out
The breathing matters and nothing else
I am conscious and full of life;
Completely blessed,
Divine love
Protecting me.

Anxiety slowly
Ebbs down;
Enveloped in a bubble of tranquility,
All my thoughts jump around it
I smile
I am
Fully free.

Yesterday has finally gone! : Quatern (Letters from the soul #25)

Yesterday has finally gone!
And here's a new, roseate dawn
Acting like morphine to your soul
Showing you a new path and goal.

To the pool of tears, don't get drawn
Yesterday has finally gone!
Collect the pieces and rebuilt
your life one more time, bit by bit.

Your cracked heart will rejoin again
The way sun shines after the rain
Yesterday has finally gone!
Do not cling to the spiky thorn.

You will slip again in this road
Tired of carrying grief as load,
But now run like a sporty fawn
Yesterday has finally gone!

Xeroxed Moments: Rondolet (Letters from the Soul #24)

Xeroxed moments
Are too rare to capture in life;
Xeroxed moments
Makes one static with no movements
Gliding with the tide feels alive,
Cannot offer newness to thrive

Water and Love : Sedoka (Letters from the Soul #23)

Mocktails cannot quench
The thirst of a tired tourist;
Only water can do that

Love alone can soothe
Burns and scars of the journey;
It deep cleanses like water.

Note: This is a Sedoka poem. Sedoka is an unrhymed Japanese poetry form with the syllable count: 5-7-7 and 5-7-7. A Sedoka often addresses the same subject from two perspectives.

Violet Sky: Monorhyme (Letters from the Soul #22)

The hour of change is like the violet twilight sky
Explosion of shifting colours that can beautify
your life amid some uncertainty and goodbye;
The ride can seem turbulent and might terrify
But aren't you born to wear your wings and fly
from the cage of monotony that makes you cry?
Dawn and dusk lends you the magic eye
To recognize change as a divine lanternfly
That will illuminate your path as you walk by.

Note: This is a monorhyme poem. It is a very simple poetry form where all the lines have the same end rhyme.

Umbrella of God : Shape Poetry (Letters from the Soul #21)

No
typhoon,thunder,tempest
and hurricane can make you tremble;
They cannot break your spirit when you
stand dauntlessly under the umbrella of God.
The divine power that created you will not only
shield you from the furor and bedlam, but will teach
you
how
to
play
in
the
rain
and
how
to
talk
           to  storm

Timeless ties: Tetractys (Letters from the soul #20)

Some
people
touch our lives
with such bright hues
they cannot be wiped from our existence.
Their imprints deepen in our soul daily
like roots of trees
cobalt dyes
timeless

Slave to the Music: Sonnet (Letters from the soul #19)

The moon changes its face every black night
Seasons shift, whispering some old wise words;
I spot the changes in me without fight
Let go people and things just like free birds.
Music is the only thing I hold on
Like a forlorn person who owns nothing
A melody for each night and season
Lost memories rekindle as I sing.
Being a slave to the music gives me hope
I feel alive despite losing a lot;
Like letters stacked inside an envelope
Music makes me feel secure about my thoughts.
I can feel all the people I have loved
In the rhythm of songs, I have savored.

Rainbow within her : Senryu (Letters from the soul #18)

Sundry emotions
Autumn and spring coexist;
Rainbow within her.

She frames the rainbow
In the pristine white pages;
Plays the song of life.

Unaware, she is
How many lives the rainbow
Touches and uplifts.
