They taught us all wrong
They told us we have to
compete against each other
all through life
as if when one is
achieving happiness,
the plates of others
are getting emptier, bit by bit.
If we were meant to be
competitors and foes,
how are we all linked
with the thread of pain?
Every month, we go
through the same agony
We bleed with a brave smile
carrying out our job and chores
We have all been victims
of being called the second sex
whether we choose to call
ourselves feminists or not;
We have all faced harassment
in some form or the other.
My heart swells when it
realizes the connection
I share with every woman;
Oh! It is deeper than the oceans
mightier than the mountains
more sacred than
the Gita and Bible;
We are daughters of the
divine Goddess
Mother Earth
Mother Nature
We are sisters by soul
We are sisters across various lifetimes.
When we stand up for each other,
we change the direction of winds;
When we support each other,
we make the sun shine brighter;
Once we acknowledge we are
all sisters by soul,
we will witness a
sunshower of miracles.
