Symphony of Unity

(Image Source: here)

The palpable, mellifluous harmony
Spread all over the Nature
Is the symphony produced by unity;
A melody like mother's lullaby
Mother Nature smiles.

The calm sky, the beautiful breeze
The flowers, birds and butterflies
Never cross each other;
Look how pretty is their harmonious coexistence!
Mother Nature beams.

Between those civilized humans
Can you get the stench of disharmony?
Neither they are in sync with each other
Nor they are in sync with Nature
Mother Nature turns her face away.

Tears of grief, anger and despair exist
The smile of harmony is nowhere;
Disunity and discord mute off symphony
Making room for conflicts
Mother Nature weeps.

      I wish the same, Sachin. It is such a pity that we are not in sync with each other/ Mother Nature. We are so self absorbed.

  7. Yes. Mother Nature weeps at our disharmony. Your poem illustrates how beautifully the natural world cooperates with each other. We have so much to learn about unity and interdependence.

  12. I love the way that you use music - as a musician dissonance is as unsettilng as someone scratching the chalkboard. Agree Mother Nature has buckets of tears.

  20. The poem beautifully highlights the sore fact that discordance and disharmony due to differences have left mother nature weeping at most of the times. A very nice composition Purba.

  22. I just read panchali's - and you took a very similar route. I def have a huge appreciation of nature and how things coexist. This does not mean it is not violent at times. I mean animals eat each other every day, but there is a balance that exists in nature, where all are provided for. Sadly our differences far too often push us apart, and an appreciation for the different is not always there. I wonder what we are trying to justify by always feeling we need to defend ourselves at the expense of others.

  24. Amazing lines....sad but true!! The creative powers of Mother Nature is not too difficult for us to comprehend...if only we could learn to appreciate the laws of nature. Love this, Purba. So well penned.

  25. Harmony is one concept that eludes us. We are so messed up that bringing discord soothes our senses, and sadly so. Moving poem, Purba.

  26. I think nature has its own unity. It is only humans who create disunity and disharmony! There is so much contrast between your first two stanzas and your last.

  27. Ah. It's saddening. I like the progression of the last line from stanza to stanza. Well-penned.
