Story of Acceptance

One day
I sat by the lake
All with myself
In search of companionship
And for a little introspection.
A kingfisher flew by me
Whispering a little hello
I smiled and then sighed
Feeling how lonely I am.

That day
Something extraordinary happened
I desperately searched for a companion
And became one myself.
Yes! Solitude is lovely
It taught me to befriend myself.
The gates of conversation opened
I talked to me
About success, failure, fears and insecurities.

On that day
I noticed how hard I've been
Insensitive, cruel and uncaring to me
During my failures, downfalls and anxieties.
A drop of tear escaped my eye
No! I won't be harsh anymore
Towards my best friend, ME.
I will embrace her; accept all her flaws
Love is acceptance, after all.
